Today we are writing about how to rent and drive a car in Japan.
If you want to drive in Japan you’ll need an international driver's license issued by the Geneva Convention by an authorized agency of a country party that is valid. In addition, the format (dimensions) of the international driver's license is stipulated in Annex 10 of the same Convention as follows, and if it differs significantly from this, it may not be accepted.
However there are a few acceptions. In these case’s you do not need to have an International driving license-.
Only if you have a driving license issued by
*Switzerland,Germany, France,Belgium , Monaco or Taiwan . ( you’ll need to have a photo license as seen in the picture)
You need to show your driving license and get an official Japanese translation issued by the official department of vehicles where you are located.
The International driving license is verified for 1 year from when you arrive in Japan.
We’ll check the stamp upon your arrival date in Japan on your passport. Remember,If you pass an Electronic gate there is no stamp so you need to ask to get a stamp additionally. If there is no arrival date stamp on your passport we can’t rent you a car..
